Dr. Chelsea Welch, MSPT, DPT, cert. VRT is a Corning native with over 15 years of local clinical experience in Physical Therapy. She received her Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Ithaca College/ University of Rochester, with focus studies in nutrition and dance. In addition to her extensive orthopedic experience, she holds a specialty certification as a vestibular rehabilitation therapist ( cert. VRT) from Duke University specializing in the treatment of dizziness and balance disorders.
Dr. Welch is the regions sole PT certified to treat vertigo (dizziness) and balance disorders. She regularly identifies the cause of dizziness and routinely cures patients who may have suffered for years. She is fast becoming known as your local “dizzy disorder doctor”.
Dr. Welch regularly employs the latest evidence based approaches to complex patient care and believes all patients deserve a collaborative “team” approach. Her strong ties to the community, and experience have earned her the trust of local medical providers including fellow PT’s, neurologists, primary care physicians, orthopedic surgeons, ENT’s, chiropractors and podiatrists to name a few.
Unlike other models of physical therapy, Dr. Welch likes to quickly educate her patients to independently manage their conditions cost effectively. She has attained a strong following as limited therapy sessions means less deductibles, overall cost savings to the patient, and Dr. Welch being able to provide her highly successful specialized treatment to you.
Welch Physical Therapy does participate with some insurance policies , including all Medicare policies. Should Welch PT be “out-of-network” with your insurance plan, you will be provided documentation to self-submit for direct reimbursement for treatment. This allows the flexibility to see all patients one-on one without being at the mercy of an insurance bureaucracy. Dr. Welch will personally discuss cost of care, and your specific insurance benefits with you prior to your initial appointment, so there is never a risk of surprise out of pocket costs.
She is confident patients will enjoy a superior cost effective, private and personalized comprehensive experience.
Dr. Welch personally strives to live a healthy and well balanced life, so naturally that passion for helping you obtain your overall health and fitness goals is her absolute pleasure. She will work with you to improve your well-being including consulting with you about fitness, nutrition and weight management.
Dr. Welch is listed in the national database of certified vestibular providers and is a proud member and supporter of the VEDA organization ( vestibular disorders association) which participates in research and is a vast source of patient and provider education materials.

Pawla Welch, therapeutic sidekick
At times, our therapy dog, Ms. Pawla, a King Charles cavalier spaniel may make a visit. Although she is still learning the inner workings of office life, her healing powers are unparalleled and she is often a comfort to patients. Just be sure to give her a pat on the head to let her know you want to visit, as she is deaf and cannot hear you. She can be located sleeping in her bed under Dr. Welch’s chair( in the rare moment she is sitting), or may be convinced to come to you if you have a tempting treat in hand.
